Mein aktuelles Projekt in Freiburg: I am here with two projects. The first is to contribute to the programme on friendship and patronage in history. The second is to complete my interpretative monograph on state failure and the origins of the French Revolution, for Oxford University Press.

I see this as a major new way of looking at the origins of the French Revolution, of wide interest to scholars in related fields. It is a highly interpretative book, offering a new framework for understanding crisis and the process of revolution, in France but also in general.
